BREAKING NEW GROUND FOR BUILDING BUSINESS CAPACITY
Ascend [ www.ascendcities.com ] is a national initiative composed of local business support networks that is providing businesses with personalized growth strategies. The focus of Ascend is to grow 500 more multi-million dollar firms owned by people of color in the next three years.
Ascend’s M3 model of improving Management skills, growing access to Money through loans and investments and increasing Market opportunities through contracts and supply chain partnerships grew from more than 25 years of work by the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business which helped companies in Washington State grow revenues by more than $250 million. This research based, field-tested approach accelerates the growth of minority-owned and urban businesses.
Currently, Ascend provides specialized programs in 15 cities nationwide, that in 2020 helped companies increase revenue by more than $85 million even during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown. Ascend connects business schools, business service-provider organizations and community development financial institutions (CDFIs) to generate a supportive ecosystem for helping entrepreneurs accelerate their business growth.
The new Ascend Regional Program: NY-NJ-LI will facilitate business growth for MBEs who are market ready and will benefit from a new approach to connecting to direct contract opportunities.
